Kim Diehl is one of my very favorite quilt authors. She is one of the few who still design in the "country style" and they are few and far between these days. I have nearly all of her books in my personal quilt library. I absolutely love the simplicity of design and using rich, warm colors that are so perfect for fall and winter quilts. Another aspect of her designs is the little additions of appliqué here and there. Not much, just enough to give those lovely quilts "spark".

Kim has co-authored with Laurie Baker this time adding a new element of cooking recipes. The focus of the recipes is "quick & simple" that can be prepared easily so as not to encroach on quilting time. I'm all for that!!!

Kim and Laurie say the quilt patterns in this book "are of gentle shapes and a limited amount of pieces" making each project fairly doable in a weekend. Kim's easy invisible machine appliqué method and today's modern piecing techniques also contribute to the single weekend project. That's good news given time schedules nowadays!
