I love scrap quilts! They are fun to make and buy fabric for. I can go into any quilt store and find something to add to one of my various scrap collections! I get excited when I find a new book of scrap quilts. Scrap Quilts Fit for a Queen! is a treasure trove of attractive and very scrappy quilts. Each quilt has 75 or more fabrics, usually precuts or pieces from fat quarters. The author does provide instructions for king, queen, twin, and lap sizes for each project. The quilts shown are in a variety of fabrics such as Civil War reproductions, Asian designs, and florals. In one lovely quilt, she used all of these plus batiks and pulled the fabrics out of two brown bags divided into light and dark color values!
My favorite section was “Strategies for Making Scrap Quilts”. The author discusses the coordinated block method, the fabric-menu method, and the brown-bag method. She elaborates about the method she used in different quilts. This is excellent information for those who are intimidated by putting a large number of fabrics together in a cohesive manner. Whether a devoted scrappy quilter or someone ready to tiptoe into the world of scrap quilts, this book will have something to inspire and instruct for everyone.
