The Quilt Block Book
Techniques: piecing, foundation piecing, applique
Sorry, this item is currently not available for purchase.
I wanted to review The Quilt Block Book by Nancy Wick from the minute I saw it. I love the beautiful batik fabric used in all the examples. I also was drawn in by the way she used her machine’s decorative stitches on the applique block examples.
The book is divided into sections using three different quilt making techniques with basic instructions at the beginning of each section. There are 25 traditional-pieced block patterns, 25 foundation-pieced patterns, and 25 applique block patterns. There are six quilt layout examples using several popular ways to arrange blocks including horizontal, on-point, and in strips. She also gives an example layout using all the blocks in the book. The traditional-pieced blocks are given in three different sizes serif"If you are new to foundation piecing I found the instructions very clear and quite a few of the patterns are considered beginner patterns. I can’t wait to try out some of her applique patterns and use the decorative stitches on my machine.
