This is my twist on a traditional Grandmother's Two-Patch block.

8-page, full-color pattern. Pattern offers two construction choices--foundation paper-piecing or traditional piecing using templates. Pattern includes full instructions for two design variations (a Traditional Variation and an "Exploding" Variation). Choice of two sizes for each design variation, crib or lap size. Pattern is ideal for beginning paper-piecers and even those with NO paper-piecing experience at all. Complete step-by-step instructions showing how to paper-piece this simple block are included, along with photos of every step.

Finished sizes:
Exploding variation, crib size - 45" x 63"
Exploding variation, lap size - 59" x 77"
Traditional variation, crib size - 44" x 64"
Traditional variation, lap size - 62" x 85"

For the Exploding variation, crib size, you will need:

• 1/8 yard total assorted orange prints
• 1/4 yard total assorted sky blue prints
• 1/4 yard total assorted royal blue prints
• 1/4 yard total assorted purple prints
• 1/2 yard total assorted yellow-orange prints
• 1/2 yard total assorted yellow prints
• 1/2 yard total assorted turquoise prints
• 3/4 yard total assorted yellow-green prints
• 3/4 yard total assorted spring-green prints
• 2-1/2 yards total assorted black-and-white or gray-and-white prints
• 1/2 yard binding fabric
• ?2-7/8 yards backing fabric

For the Exploding variation, lap size, you will need:

• 1/8 yard total assorted orange prints
• 1/2 yard total assorted yellow-orange prints
• 1/2 yard total assorted yellow prints
• 1/2 yard total assorted royal blue prints
• 1/2 yard total assorted purple prints
• 3/4 yard total assorted yellow-green prints

• 2-1/2 yards solid gray fabric
• 1/8 yard lime green solid
• 1/2 yard binding fabric
• 2-7/8 yards backing fabric

For the Traditional variation, lap size, you will need:

• 4-1/4 yards total of assorted prints (I used 17 fat-quarters)
• 4-3/4 yards solid gray fabric
• 1/8 yard lime green solid
• 5/8 yard binding fabric
• 5 yards backing fabric
