One Line at a Time has 24 geometric machine quilting designs, which Charlotte Warr Andersen has simplified and made easy! This book is great for beginners who are hesitant to try free motion quilting. The techniques also work well for quilters who use a home sewing machine and little or no marking. I’m always on the lookout for more ideas and inspiration on machine quilting designs!
You can use your walking foot to sew many geometric designs with straight lines. Try making grids with horizontal and vertical lines. When you add diagonal lines, you can make triangles and hexagons. There are several templates that can be photocopied and cut apart, turned, overlapped, or staggered to achieve more geometric designs.
Don't stop there. You can also try crosshatching, clamshells, hexagons, stars, circles--all kinds of shapes! These designs can be used for a whole quilt or to fill in smaller areas. This is a great book with great inspirational designs for anyone looking for more inspiration design on their machine quilting.
