Imagine discovering a passion for quilting but living where there is no quilting fabric and batting available, no way to learn about quilting except the Internet and books you order, no quilting classes, and few friends with whom to share your interest because most people have never heard of a quilt! This describes the story of Geta Grama, a quilter living in Romania who, lacking other resources, taught herself to quilt by trial and error. A few years ago, she watched an Internet video by Linda V. Taylor demonstrating her shadow trapunto technique. The author was fascinated! She couldn't find the supplies she needed in her country so she developed the method presented in this book. Recently, my friend Sandy Peterson, a technical writer for C&T Publishing, raved about an amazing quilter named Geta Grama with whom she edited a book. Coincidentally, I had just chosen Shadow Trapunto to review because I enjoy learning new techniques. Geta Grama's engineering background enabled her to easily adapt to drafting beautiful designs in EQ6 for her shadow trapunto technique. This book is an amazing compilation of unusual, intricate designs, 30 elegant projects and clear, detailed instructions for shadow trapunto. I highly recommend it as an addition to your quilting library.
