There are many adorable quilts in Warm Welcome to fall in love with, and best of all they’re easy to make!
Two of the projects in this book use fusible appliqué and are very simple for the beginning quilter. Baby Bows and Twinkle Toes is absolutely my favorite quilt in this book. Black Mary Jane shoes are appliquéd on a pieced top of scattered bow tie blocks. How fun would it be to sew up this cute quilt and send it off to the new arrival with a shiny pair of Mary Jane’s! If the new arrival is a boy, just change the style of the shoes to fit. Be creative.
The cover quilt, Gift Block, is one of three designs that Mary cleverly used prairie points to give character and dimension to the quilt. In this quilt, she makes the sailboat look like it is being unveiled from a beautiful gift box. The propeller and tail of an airplane and the flag on the top of a tent also use prairie points.
My other favorite quilt in this book is the Nine-Patch Star which alternates nine-patch blocks and triangle blocks to effortlessly create a large diamond and a star in the middle of the quilt. The finished quilt looks like you worked really hard, but is really very easy to make.
Of the 17 quilt projects in this book, I’m sure you will find many that will become your favorites. Use different color combinations and prints to give each quilt a new look and start sewing now to store up for those unexpected arrivals!
