Hi again!  It's Kiki from It's Sew Kiki.  I want to share with you just how wonderful I think Connecting Threads' new fabric line, Bookish is. One of my very favorite things to do, besides sew, is to read.  I usually read around 2 books a week!  There are books stashed everywhere in our house.  So when I saw this fabric, I had the perfect little design in mind.  I made this little Table Topper for my end table in my living room.  I called it Library Card and the pattern is available as a free download from Connecting Threads!

What could be more fun for a book-themed quilt than an actual library stack full of tossed, leaning books?  Library Stack is just that quilt made of many things library and characterized as an actual full book shelf.  How amusing is that??!!  A perfect gift for the bookworm or someone with their own personal library, Library Stack can put you in a reading frame of mind while keeping you toasty warm.

Meet Heidi. Heidi loves books. No, let me rephrase that...Heidi is obsessed with books. The girl read War and Peace (twice) when she was 16! Needless to say, when Heidi first saw the new Bookish fabrics, she was super excited. This is Heidi super excited. Note: the fabric bundle she is holding is blurred in the photo because she wouldn't stop shaking it excitedly.

Fun project ideas for Bookish!

My concept for designing the Bookish collection, was to create a fun and whimsical group using a library as my source of inspiration.  I wanted to keep this collection fun, quirky and bright, not traditional and stuffy.  The focal itself gives you a view into a library, from book carts and catalog cards to an ever present librarian.  Also included are prints inspired by book spines, book return due dates an spiral staircases.

When thinking of kit ideas for this group, the first one I chose was Tula Pink’s “Color Bars Body Pillowcase”, from her “Quilts From The House Of Tula Pink”
To me the bars represented books on their ends, and I had fun with the color placement.   I can’t wait to actually make it up, how cute!

Love to read? Love to quilt? As an avid reader and passionate quilter, I am crazy about the Bookish collection and its projects. As soon as I saw the Bookish fabrics with stacks and shelves of books, book return stamps and other book-related designs, I started thinking of snuggling up with a good book, exploring the library and going to book club. My favorite design, the Spiral Bookcase with concentric circles of books, is featured in four projects.
