Marsha D Radtke has written a beautiful book which was inspired by a found quilt. In 1970, Marsha found a Baltimore Album quilt the attic of her parsonage. It was dated by a certified appraiser from 1850 – 1860. When the quilt began to deteriorate, Marsha decided to replicate it.
This book explains how to make that quilt. It includes all 24 blocks with one block repeated. Photos of the original block are placed next to the recreated block. Technique instructions are included along with color recommendations and embroidery recommendations.
A Baltimore Album also provides directions for fail safe binding, an option for quilting as you go, helpful hints on how to complete the borders with mitered corners, and finally, how to sign your quilt.
A Baltimore Album is truly a book written for the love and preservation of quilts.
