Alison Glass Applique is unique because it explores many different kinds of applique; from reverse to hand-stitched techniques, there’s a little bit of everything. The best part is that Alison shows us not just quilting cotton--she uses felt, canvas, and other different kinds of fabric as great and exciting applique examples. Creating your own unique applique layouts is a wonderful way to express creativity, and as Alison wrote on page 105, “Sometimes simple designs are the most beautiful, Ironwork on a utility grate repeating a single shape is a great example of this. The secondary shapes formed by the chosen layout of the primary shape adds another dimension. Noticing both natural and human-made patterns all around us can often lead to powerful inspiration for out quilt making.” I definitely recommend this book if you’re into applique.
