Amy Butler’s Little Stitches for Little Ones is an absolutely beautiful book with a sturdy hard cover, spiral binding, and many beautiful full color photos of every project. I first got the book when I was pregnant with my daughter, and I spent weeks just paging through it leisurely, marking my favorite patterns with post-it notes, and sometimes just jotting down which fabric I wanted to use for each of them. I found the projects to be a good mix of quilts, baby clothes, bags, and other creative baby things that vary in size and difficultly level. The templates are included in a pocket in the book, which I thought was very handy. There’s also a glossary in the back and a discussion of materials in the front that is good for people like me who need to brush up on their sewing.
The first project I made from the book was the Cutie Booties. I made four pairs for my baby girl, and I’m happy to report that they stay on very well—the biggest challenge for baby booties. After my daughter was born, I made the Comfy Jumper Dress for her out of our Riviera fabric during the course of a few of her naps. The dress turned out adorable and very polished looking, being fully lined. I can’t wait until she’s big enough to wear it!
