Apparently I have a bit of a reputation around here when it comes to the Stars & Stripes! I love anything Americana, so when Best of Fons & Porter – Patriotic Quilts came along, several people asked if I was going to review it! Well, of course!
This book has 30 “Star-Spangled” projects, each a must do if you’re as into the Red, White, & Blue as I am.
The “Stars & Stripes Sampler” incorporates components from the other projects in the book, and is absolutely stunning. It is also very large. I will be more likely to take on some of the smaller projects using the ones that particularly appeal to me.
A friend gave me a flag panel for my birthday, and there are a couple of smaller projects in the book that use a panel as the centerpiece and then have patchwork around them – I think a plan is forming.
Many of the quilts are composed of patchwork stars – they wouldn’t have to be done in patriotic colors, and would be just as nice.
So whether you’re a fan of patriotic quilts or not, this book has a great selection of projects, and I bet you too will find one (or more) you have to make!
