There are 13 adorable projects in this book and all of them are embellished with appliqué and simple embroidery stitches to create that distinctive Bareroots style.  These simple touches are really make the projects so appealing.  Realizing that everyone does appliqué differently, Barri gives tips for using the patterns with your favorite method.

Pretty & Cozy is divided up into two themes.  The Hearts and Flowers group features soft pastels, while At Home uses a country color scheme.  While there are gorgeous quilts at the center of both groups, the smaller coordinating projects really caught my eye.  

I absolutely fell in love with the project called Three Little Quilts.  The first quilt is a group of flowers, the second quilt has a house on it, and the third quilt has a heart with flowers.  The finished size of each quilt is 6 by 9 inches, and if I use fusible appliqué, these quilts will sew up in a jiffy.

Another fast project is the appliqué candle mat, Hearts and Flowers.  It is shown in quilting cotton, but could easily be done using wool and would make a cute gift.  I also really liked the look of the messenger bag and may just need to make one for myself!

All four of the pillows are wonderful but my favorite is called Buttons and Bows.  It features soft scallops accentuated with buttons, appliquéd hearts and ribbons that tie at the side.  Other projects include a little door quilt, two table runners and a door carry-all that has lots of pockets to help you stay organized.

This book includes a variety of projects that are all Pretty & Cozy!  Take a moment to look and I think you’ll find something that will appeal to you.
