I started quilting while pregnant with my first child in 1989. The first edition of Quilts! Quilts!! Quilts!!! was published in 1988; it was my first quilt book. My first quilt class was a sampler quilt class, taught by one of the authors, Laura Nownes, and based on the book. I also own their Quilts Galore: Quiltmaking Styles and Techniques (1990). Do you think I was excited about Quilts! Quilts!! Quilts!!! 3rd Ed. being published? You betcha!

The broad scope of quilting-related techniques and skills are covered in both the older and newer versions. General, essential instructions for color selection, drafting, cutting, piecing, appliqué, quilt assembly, quilting, and binding are still included. Basic blocks, such as Nine-Patch, Snowball, Square-in-a-Square, Log Cabin, Pinwheels, Flying Geese, Kaleidoscope, Sawtooth Star, 1000 Pyramids, and many more, are still included but they often look so different! The quilts are updated with larger blocks and brighter/bolder fabrics with a modern flare. Changing color value placement and varying the size of units often creates a whole new look while still teaching the basic skills. Current favorites, such as hexagons, circles, and chevrons, are highlighted. Quilts! Quilts!! Quilts!!! The Complete Guide to Quiltmaking, 3rd Ed. will be worthwhile addition to any quilter’s library!
