When I saw Quilts du Jour by Marny Buck and Jill Guffy, there were three reasons I insisted I should be the one to review it.
The first is that I admire the unique quilt patterns from their online quilt company, Modern Quilt Relish. Connecting Threads has twice made kits from their popular Brioche and Baguette Throw pattern.
The second reason is the unique format of the book. Following their food-themed design names, they encourage the reader to create their own great modern quilt by choosing from four Menus. The six blocks in the Appetizer Menu can be used in the Tasting Menu which includes six quilts, each showcasing solid fabrics in a different layout. The more adventurous will want to sample the Settings Menu and design their own quilt with one of the six settings - grid, repeated horizontal, diagonal-line, straight-line, staggered, and radiating. The Dessert Menu provides some tasty alternative fabric and project ideas for each block. There are patterns for 18 perfect pairings for your quilting pleasure.
