Simple Charm is a great addition to my Kim Diehl library. Her books are such a pleasure to look at – not only are her quilts wonderful, but the props used in the photos are things that we all have in our collection of “stuff”. This book just provides all kinds of inspiration.
This selection of quilts and projects feature Kim’s traditional mix of patchwork and appliqué. There’s even a stuffed cat that’s made of patchwork. My favorite is the “Penny-Wise” table runner with the center appliqué, checkerboard patchwork, plus my favorite, pineapples! Since I’m focusing on making smaller projects for a while, I was thrilled to see several great projects that are not bed-sized quilts.
Kim gives great hints, called “Pin Points”, that encourage as well as help with different techniques, and she also gives quilting suggestions for the projects.
If you’re into the scrappy quilt look and love patchwork and appliqué, this book is for you!
