At first glance, Michelle’s new pattern Day & Night looks like it was made only for advanced quilters. But quilting magician, Eleanor Burns, is able to use her magic wand and simplify it so that quilters of all levels can enjoy this stunning design! The magic is simply strip piecing. Quarter blocks are stitched together for large blocks and suddenly, the beautiful starry pattern appears! Full yardage and cutting charts are included for two color layout choices for six sizes from table runners to king-sized quilts. Plus, you’ll also find two bonus projects that use the “cut away” scraps left from making the quilt blocks.
Techniques: strip piecing – acrylic template included
5 projects – 95 color pgs. Item No. 44985

This book caught my eye because of the perfect points in all of the quilts--and there are a lot of points! Then I saw that there is a nifty little ruler tucked in the back cover that makes making these perfect little points easily. These quilts all look very difficult, but in reality they are simply strips of various widths sewn together then cut into triangular shapes using the ruler that comes with the book.
It’s easy to get hooked on this technique. It’s possible to achieve so many different looks! The authors give ideas for using the fabric that is cut away too so you can end up with a couple of bonus projects without making any additional cuts. Her diagrams are wonderful and she has a lot of them. And I do mean a lot! I like that the authors give the number of triangles needed for all sizes of quilts, from table runners to king bed quilts.
I think any quilt made from this book would be an attention grabber. I love making something that looks like I spent months assembling but actually only took me a few hours!
