I hope that you've found some useful information over the past few weeks
with our color theory posts. The most important part of using and
understanding color is having fun with it! Remember that color theory
isn't a strict set of rules, but more of a guide to help you better your
method of choosing and placing fabric in your quilts.
I wanted to leave you with a few resources of inspiration, fun, and reference. Two websites I actually just found myself that are great for color scheme inspiration are: www.ColourLovers.com and www.ColorSchemeDesigner.com. Don't forget about our Design Table! It's a great resource for comparing our fabrics right online.
It is my great pleasure to introduce our third and final sponsor for the Christmas in July contest. Meet Quilters Newsletter Magazine (QNM). We've known the wonderful editors and staff over at QNM for
several years, and have always been so inspired by what we see in their
magazine. No matter what quilting topics interest you, you will most
certainly find something that will pique your excitement in every single
If you've been working on some fabulous fabric designs for our Fabric Design Contest, today is the day you can start uploading you submissions. We just can't wait to see what everyone has come up with!
We will be accepting submissions from now until August 10th, at which time we will compile everything for the voting round. The best part is that we are allowing you to enter as many times as you want, so if you have 10 great ideas, there's no need to narrow it down; you can send them all!
Also exciting is that our customers and fans will play a huge role in the decision making process. Once all designs have been submitted, people will have the opportunity to vote between the dates of August 14th-August 31st. This voting session will determine our top five finalists!

It's time for our next Sponsor Highlight and this week's post features a really generous, really wonderful company: Dream World Northwest, the makers of the Sew Steady Table. The Sew Steady Tables are portable acrylic sewing tables used by
hundreds of thousands of quilters and sewers around the world. Go ask people in your guild if they use one; you might be surprised at how many people do!
The history of the company is really cool. The
company began in 1994 from a local sewing instructor's husband
who made a table to fit around her machine. From that came the first custom fit
Sew Steady Table and all of her students wanted one too. Those husbands really do come in handy! Today the company works with all
of the sewing machine manufacturers to create products that improve the sewing
experience for their customers. Better yet, Dream World Northwest is located in Eugene, OR and every single one of their tables are made in the USA. You've got to love that.
I mentioned earlier that the company is generous. I'm not kidding! Dream World Northwest has offered up TWO of our grand prizes in the Christmas in July contest, and the company has also been a wonderful sponsor in some of our other past giveaways. I can't say enough about how kind these folks are, and I know first hand that their customer service is top-notch. Can you tell that we here at CT have a little company crush on them? HA!
The prizes being offered for the Christmas in July contest include a Deluxe Big Ultimate Table Package and a Deluxe Large Ultimate Table Package. Both prizes include a custom Sew Steady Table, Travel Bag, Universal Sew Straight Guide, and a Spinner Tray. The only difference between the two prizes is that the Big package's table is 24"x24" and the Large package's table is 18"x24". Combined these prizes are worth more than $420.
When I asked Dream World what they would tell customers if given the chance, they responded with this:
"Our goal is to improve your sewing experience by
designing and building Sew Steady Extension Tables, Cabinet inserts, and Sewing
Accessories that are tailored to your machine and sewing cabinet. Our
customers are #1, and our company focus is making sure the customer is always
satisfied with the products they receive. This focus has given us the opportunity
to improve the sewing experience we provide all sewers by listening to
them. Please join us on Facebook for chances to share information about
existing and new products and have the opportunity to test and keep new
products for us. If you’re not on Facebook please share your thoughts
with us by email or phone. We are always open to suggestions and ideas on
how to make our products work best for our customers."
How cool is that? I love that their company invites people to give suggestions and feedback; that's a trait that you don't see much of anymore. If you would like to help support this company, we encourage you to go like their Facebook page. They are a great company to interact with, and their Facebook page hosts a lot of fun contests! Thanks for reading and for helping us support such a lovely group of people.
