I love the Needles and Notions
book but couldn't decide what I wanted to make. I love paper piecing
but in small amounts and I really didn't want to make a quilt or a wall
hanging. I collect pincushions so I decided to make the pincushion block
and frame it.

Clover yo-yo makers are such a great tool! Sometimes you just need to stare at something for a few weeks before you actually decide to work on it. I had a stack of Smooth Sailing fat quarters sitting on my desk at home. Quite a lovely stack just as it was, however it apparently wanted to be made into something. A few weeks ago I decided I was going to cut right into the fabrics and sew up a little something. The project was still undecided at that point, but I started prepping my workspace and racking my brain for a quick and easy idea to make with these beautiful nautical fabrics.

It began with Little Red… This is Judy’s little comfort pillow and pillowcase she takes on-the-go and it originally came from her Mother-in-law, Bunny.

So, here’s the story… Judy brought Little Red into work to show us the clever pillowcase design the same day I found out I goofed on the Gifty project for this week. I talked to Teri about my goof-up and before long Sue, Teri, Judy and I were quickly making disguised Little Reds! Teri’s idea and Judy’s design turned into Sue’s pattern and then, my project for this week! Hence, the birth of Pillow-to-Go Pillowcases! Wahoo!
Soon (and with Judy’s help), LOTS of people were making pillows. Look at all of us!
