Sew Spooky ~ Pattern Block of the Month
by Marigifty , staff projects , customer projects , patterns 9 Comments »
Oh, my, gosh, do I love Halloween! Connecting Threads carries the best quilt pattern I’ve seen in years for our zany Halloween season. I absolutely love Sew Spooky from The Quilt Company! Very cleverly designed, this block of the month pattern pack is hilariously whimsical. Six patterns in all will make the comical 73" x 61" quilt.
Santa Wall Hanging

The Santa Wall Hanging is an enchanting gallery of those little faces I fell in love with. I just had to make a little quilt that highlighted the turned up noses and chubby cheeks. Framed in with a checkerboard border, each grin holds its own allowing them center stage. Construction is very simple with only squares and rectangles to assemble. This kit will create a magical experience for children and evoke a bit of joy for all.
Sweet Saint Nick is the third fabric line I’ve designed for Connecting Threads, and I must say it’s my favorite.
In my world, Christmas is very traditional: very red and green, and filled with Santas! I am a decorative artist, and Santas have always been a favorite of mine to paint, whether they’re my own designs or someone else’s.

It’s not hard to figure out that the inspiration for this collection stems from my ever-growing collection of Santas, with my favorites being the ones hand carved by my husband, John and painted by me. They reside year round on top of the hutch in the dining room, and then make the leap from there to the mantel for the month of December.

Probably my favorite fabric in the collection is the border print, Saint Nick’s Workshop.
The Santas on the border, are an adaptation of some ornaments from the ornament book I did last year, and the tossed motifs in the center are from an Advent Calendar, a project from last year’s other book.

With 2.5 yards of it, I made 2 cute pillowcases. They’ll be on the bed for Christmas – hope Santa will approve!
I am thrilled with the Sweet Saint Nick collection, love the projects that the talented designers have come up with, and am amazed with how Connecting Threads’ customers have accepted it.
Thank You!
