Last August, Connecting Threads held its first-ever fabric design
contest. In just a month’s time, we received over 1,000 design entries
and more than 67,000 votes from customers. When the results were
tallied, the prevailing winner was Virginia Odien.
August, we have had the privilege of working with Virginia to further
develop her collection. We are so excited to finally introduce this
wonderful line to the rest of the world. (Drumroll please) Meet Hello Sunshine!
Travel in style - your style! That's what you'll do when you stitch up The Quilted Traveler's Tote.
To make this sturdy, roomy bag, reminiscent of ready-made quilted bags,
you get to choose two fabrics you love—and then quilt your own fabric.
Hi there, I'm Matt. For those of you who don't know me, I am the CEO of
Crafts Americana Group which is the parent company of Connecting
Threads. I have been meaning to try my hand at sewing for a long time.
Really, I have. I am literally surrounded by quilters, crafters, fabric
and thread all day at work. At night, I usually come home to a kitchen
table held hostage by my wife's sewing projects. With 24-hour technical
support and a warehouse full of amazing fabric, thread, tools and
notions at my disposal, I have no excuses. Still, there was something
intimidating about a craft that requires the precise use of machinery
and sharp needles.
This year, with a lot of hand-holding, Mari
(one of Connecting Threads' wonderful quilt designers) finally convinced
me to begin sewing by taking part in the Gifty Galore
project. It was the perfect opportunity. Rather than biting off a big
project with room for compound error, the goal was to find a project
that I could complete in less than 20 minutes.
Calling all Batik Lovers!
Our fall and winter batiks are here and they are lovely! We have combined new designs such as Snowflakes, Autumn Blossom, Falling Fronds and Packed Leaves with other Connecting Threads batiks to make a variety of creative projects.
I chose the Quilted Gifts project from the book Quilt Lover’s Gifts, because I love all kinds of purses and bags, and of course the Batiks attracted my attention!
