Quilt blog entries for month: September 2012
My stash of kid’s quilts expanded once again when I saw Kristin’s fun design and had to sew it up. I love how the lightning bolts from our adorable Soaked collection frame the quilt, adding some drama to the scene, while the airplanes are safely circling around through the rain clouds.
Introducing my new collection - Soaked!

I really enjoyed designing the Soaked collection, I think it's super cute! I suppose psychologically I was inspired just by living in the Northwest and by the abundance of gray skies and rain we endure. This collection is a fun way to appreciate a rainy day, wherever you may live. I love the colors and how the theme lends for some really cute images. I don't think this group is strictly for kids either, I think people of all age can find fun uses for this group.
The idea of the Rain Chain quilt came from those beautifully artistic, functional contraptions that are used as downspouts instead of closed gutters. I love those things! Well, I have to tell you, this subject matter made me chuckle living in the Pacific Northwest where rain is a steady flow most of the year, but the individual fabrics in Soaked are so cute and unusual and I love the color scheme.

Not only are we excited to send Elaine her new sewing station, we are excited to share her organizational tip with all of you. We think it's pretty great: "I use a standing shelf that was probably intended to hold CD's or DVD's to hold a whole lot of sewing related items. Shelves are 5" high and 5" deep, great for a lot of small tins and containers holding small items like buttons, beads, scissors, rotary cutters, etc. Nothing is behind anything else and everything is in plain view."
Congratulations Elaine! If you didn't win, but would like to purchase one of these great tables, click here: GIDGET 2 Also, make sure to keep checking the Notions blog for more fun giveaways in the coming months.
