My newest collection... Botanical Beauty

I’m pretty excited that Botanical Beauty is finally out! Last spring I went to the Rhododendron Gardens here in Portland, and was simply taken away. It’s a hidden gem of a garden, and right around Mother’s Day is when the rhododendrons as well as many of the other flowers are in full bloom. It’s such a beautiful sight. I was instantly inspired by all the surrounding beauty, so when I started designing this collection I was filled with ideas.
I have worked for Connecting Threads for over 15 years. Like everyone else here, I have a variety of hats I wear in my role. I make sure we are following all of our procedures. People think of me as the Procedure Police (AKA office nag) because so much of my job revolves around deadlines being met, and projects being done according to plan. I really do enjoy working here and the best part is all of the great people I get to see every day. It is always busy and I love it. The time flies when you are having fun!
Botanical Beauty was such a fun group of theme oriented fabrics, and I enjoyed playing with them! Garden imagery in Garden in Blues is everywhere from flora to floating butterflies, and sheets of lattice to whimsical pebbles (which are my favorite). There are a couple of fabrics that are tone-on-tone, and with the pebbles, are great transitional choices when working with the stronger colored prints. There is the flower clusters that remind me of Queen Anne’s Lace or perhaps those lovely “wishes” we find in our yards born from dandelions.

As National Quilting Month winds down, it is time to make
some concluding comments about the March’s Mystery Quilt 2013 Quilt Along.
