As many of you know, today is National Quilting Day. The National Quilting Association started National Quilting Day in June of 1991, making this year's celebration the 21th anniversary! National Quilting Day is a day to recognize and appreciate the skill, effort and reward associated with quilt making.
There are many, many reasons to quilt. We've provided a few examples below:
Fabric love. It is such an amazing feat to take a simple sheet of fabric, sew it together with another beautiful sheet of fabric and watch as something amazing begins to transform.
Relaxation. If you quilt, you have probably experienced a sense of euphoria while doing it. Many women and men around the world work hard at chaotic jobs all day and there is not much more relaxing than coming home and creating something beautiful.
The love of giving and making handmade gifts. Theed piece and you really appreciate it.re is no gift that people appreciate more than one that has been labored
over and custom made for them. Whether you quilt or not, you know the
time and effort that goes into making a treasure.
Instant heirloom. A quilt is something that stays in the family for a long time. Whether you are making a quilt for a baby or for an adult, that quilt will be treasured and loved for many years to come.
What are your reasons for quilting? Are you doing anything special to celebrate this wonderful day?
