It's that time of year again when we all scramble to think of that perfect gift that tells Mom how much she is loved and appreciated. We have tried to simplify the process for you this year by polling our CT Moms and asking, "What do you really want this year for Mother's Day?" Hopefully their responses will help guide you in finding the perfect gift. If not, you can always just let her choose with a Connecting Threads gift card...the Mother's Day card is really cute!

New Summer Batiks

Some fabrics are designed to be showcased in a quilt, while other fabrics, like Batiks, are designed to showcase the quilt. With their intense color, shading, and variance, Batiks lend themselves to be blended and pieced into masterpiece quilts. We have several new kits to either start or feed your Batik addiction.

Below are some of my favorite kits from our new summer Batiks!

Storm at Sea Wall Hanging

The Storm at Sea kit is a beautiful wall hanging that uses foundation piecing. The different shades of blue give the illusion that there is curved piecing, but not so. This little beauty has been one of our favorite projects here at Connecting Threads for years. Once you've put it all together, you will see why!

I started making quilts about 6 years ago. At first I saved scraps in a small container, then I purchased a larger container, Now I have a very large container for my scraps for my someday scrap quilt. This book would be wonderful.

Each of our winners has been contacted, and as soon as we hear back, we will send out their wonderful books! If you didn't win, but would like a copy of this book, click here: SUNDAY MORNING QUILTS

Connecting Threads' Independent Designer Program

It’s become somewhat of a joke around here at the office.  When we are talking about projects for upcoming fabric lines, inevitably I will pipe up with "I’ve got an IDP (Independent Designer Pattern) for that!"  But as with most jokes, there is always a thread of truth.  You can find an independent designer's pattern for just about everything, and there are more and more patterns being added all the time so I suggest you check back often if you don't see one you need.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I thought I would show you some of the IDPs that you could get done in a weekend!  The nice thing about downloadable patterns is that the wait is minimal - only about an hour or less for most downloads to show up in your email - so make sure your email is correct.  Mom’s always appreciate a homemade gift made with love, so let me help get your wheels turning.  There are patterns for sewing moms, on-the-go moms, baking moms, techno moms and every other type of moms.  Here are just a few examples.

Hi again!  It's me Kiki and I blog over at It's Sew Kiki.  I recently made the quilt below using Connecting Threads' fabric collection, Mastermind.

I've called this quilt "Whiz Kid" and I designed and made it for my husband.  I've made quilts for so many people, but my poor husband didn't have one of his own! When I received the Mastermind Collection, I knew it would be perfect for Joe's quilt.  The colors are so bright and vibrant.  I decided to pair it with a solid orange.  Joe races motocross and his KTM bike is orange so this was just the right color choice.  The orange solids make the prints from Mastermind just pop!

This quilt came together really fast with its simple Half Square Triangle zig zag pattern.  The pattern is available as a free download through Connecting Threads.  Just go here to get your copy.  While you're there, take a look at all my other free downloadable patterns! And don't forget to browse all of Connecting Threads beautiful fabric.

I made this quilt just in time!  Joe was racing recently and fractured his foot.  He's been home healing and cuddling under his quilt all week.  Is there anything better than seeing a quilt get used to comfort someone? I'm definitely one of those quilters who wants to see my quilts getting used and loved.  Wrap yourself up in it....wrinkle it up!

I also want to share with you a feature that I have on my blog.  It's called Quilt Blocks 101.  There you'll find tutorials for different quilt blocks using Connecting Threads fabric.  Come visit and check it out!
