I love Batiks! I especially love the one to two-tones with the delicate, nature-stamped designs. The multi-colored, tie-dyed ones give you a variety of possibilities just by where you cut on the fabric. The single colored Batiks with dye stripes, bubbles or swirls provide your quilts with light, shade and depth without having to create it with different pieces. Because of the special dying and stamping process performed by skilled artisans in Java, Indonesia, each cut of fabric becomes its own piece of artwork.
Batiks have been very popular for use in art and landscape quilts, but more and more people are using them in traditional pieced quilts. I love this! The vibrant and tonal quality of the fabrics, create something new and fresh with a very traditional feel. Our Check Out the Stars Twin Quilt Kit is a perfect example of this.

Or, you can do what I did and create your own pattern using Batiks with our Kit Builder. This is my version of the Good To Be Home Table Topper.

I’m curious to know, do you like the artistic quilts that form together to create beautiful landscapes, or do you like to see Batiks shown in more traditional quilts? Leave me a comment letting me know which you like best and you could win one of 3 Easy Batik Landscape Quilts books or, one lucky winner will get a fat eighths sampler of our entire Batik Paradise collection.

The contest ends at 11:59pm on November 27th. The four winners will be announced on November 28th.
Rules: No purchase necessary. Must have a US or Canada mailing address to enter. One entry per person. Must provide a valid email address so that we can contact you if you win. One comment per person, please.

Nov 27, 2011 at 11:59 PM Love both! Thanks! :-)
Nov 27, 2011 at 11:57 PM Batiks look great in both quilt categories. I tend to favor a quilt based on overall design and overall color effects. Thank you! :-)
Nov 27, 2011 at 11:51 PM I love batiks in both traditional and landscape quilts, but I find that batiks tend to "pop" more in landscapes. Thanks for the chance to win!
Nov 27, 2011 at 11:43 PM Both quilt styles are great for batiks. It's really tough trying to narrow it down to just one or the other, thanks!
Nov 27, 2011 at 9:07 PM I love batiks for both, but if I have to choose I'd probably say traditional quilts because people will actually use them (rather than just look at them, as is my experience with the gorgeous landscape quilts I've seen).
Nov 27, 2011 at 6:06 PM I especially love batiks in landscapes. The first wallhanging I saw done in batiks was by McKenna Ryan, and i fell in love with batiks then and immediately signed up for the class! I'd love to be included in your giveaway.
Nov 27, 2011 at 5:08 PM love batiks, the traditional ones are my favorite. just call me an old fashion girl!!!!!!!!
Nov 27, 2011 at 1:35 PM I guess I like the traditional ones best, though the landscape ones are beautiful too (I just know I couldn't make one!). Thanks for the chance to win. :-)
Nov 27, 2011 at 12:50 PM Landscape quilts are enhanced by batiks. Both are lovely.
Nov 27, 2011 at 11:36 AM I love batiks in both traditional and landscape quilts. They look beautiful in all sorts of designs. Thank you very much for this contest!
Nov 27, 2011 at 10:35 AM I think they are beautiful in both types of quilts, but if I had to pick just one it would be in traditional pieced quilts.
Nov 27, 2011 at 9:30 AM Just love the beautiful colors in the Paradise Batiks. We spent many years in Indonesia and have been in love with them ever since!
Nov 27, 2011 at 8:10 AM I most enjoy batiks in traditional quilts. The soft change of colors seems to enhance them.
Nov 27, 2011 at 7:02 AM I like Batiks in traditional quilts!

Nov 26, 2011 at 5:35 PM I love to see and use batiks in traditional quilts. Such a fresh, updated appearance!
Nov 26, 2011 at 4:09 PM I love using batiks with all styles of quilts!
Nov 26, 2011 at 3:45 PM I have made several quilts using batiks and really enjoyed them. I am just starting my first needle turn appliqué' using batiks and am looking forward to the process. Thank you!
Nov 26, 2011 at 4:40 AM I have used batiks in both mediums, but I tend to make more traditional quilts than artistic quilts, so my choice would be traditional. But when it comes to trying to choose the right batiks for the project at hand, it's like walking into a bookstore filled with brand new, crisp, clean, unread books - overwhelming to decide! (Big smiles....)
Nov 26, 2011 at 4:04 AM Traditional quilts were my favorite way to use Batiks until I saw the landscape quilts you are showing, which are new to me. I'm going to have to build my stash up so I can make one.
Nov 25, 2011 at 7:41 PM Love batiks thay are so versatile the possablities are endless.
Nov 25, 2011 at 6:13 PM I love batiks and I love making landscape quilts. I have used a lot of batiks in them. I think batiks work really well in them. But then I think that batiks work well in traditional quilts as well.
Nov 25, 2011 at 10:03 AM I love batiks, and I'm especially partial to landscape quilts. Just wish I was a better artist.
Nov 25, 2011 at 9:33 AM I use batiks in everything. Never saw one I did not like!
Nov 25, 2011 at 7:07 AM I love Batiks! They work so well for blending. I really like to use them in making fall colored leaves in blocks.
Nov 25, 2011 at 6:23 AM I love batiks, but I would rather use them in a landscape quilt. The variety of depth and shadows you can create are endless. It is almost like using a paintbrush.
Nov 25, 2011 at 4:59 AM I love using batiks for pieced blocks. I love bright batiks and a dark background. Also use them for applique with my embroidery machine. CT has a great selection of batiks at a great price.
Nov 24, 2011 at 4:54 PM I especially love to use batiks for floral applique, and I also enjoy using it for pieced quilts. Love Connecting Threads' batiks -- great quality and soft but sturdy.
Nov 24, 2011 at 4:02 PM It has been on my bucket list to create a true landscape quilt. I do know that some of the batik fabrics would work perfectly because of the multi-colored textured look in a single fabric. The closest thing I came to a landscape quilt was actually a pieced quilt from Rachel Brown's Adoration Quilts. I made the one that I refer to as Starry Nights with the gold stars against the dark blue background of the night sky and the wise men and camels are walking in the foreground on the sand. I incorporated batiks into both the sky and the sand and they worked very well. Thanks for the contest and chance to win and Happy Thanksgiving all!
Nov 24, 2011 at 6:32 AM Batiks are my favorite fabrics! I like the landscape quilts the best and what a great giveaway! Thanks!
Nov 24, 2011 at 5:12 AM I love batiks in everything. You get both the interest of a print with the feel of a solid. The subtle color variations is what I like best about them.
Nov 24, 2011 at 4:48 AM I love batiks in quilts but my favorite would be in landscape quilts ,that is what I reach for every time. Thanks so much for the chance at this great giveaway.
Nov 23, 2011 at 10:39 PM I love more traditional designs
Nov 23, 2011 at 8:42 PM I would love to be able to try the batiks on any quilt but I must say I am a traditional gal as for my preference on styles. I have never used them but I do like the coloration of the batiks.
Nov 23, 2011 at 8:29 PM I think that the batik fabric looks stunning in a traditional pattern--- sort of "old meets new"... Would love to win one of these prizes!! Thanks so much for this giveaway! :-)
Nov 23, 2011 at 8:04 PM I tend to make more traditional quilts and wall hangings with batiks. When someone asks me my favorite color for quilts immediately respond with "batiks." My son is getting a green/turquoise/blue batik quilt for Christmas.
Nov 23, 2011 at 6:35 PM I love everything about the artistic quilts but I feel they are way over my head to make. I'm more of a old fashion girl and stick with the traditional quilts. A new line of batiks would be great for my stash. Thanks for all the give a ways. LOVE them.
Nov 23, 2011 at 5:35 PM I love batiks in patchwork best, but they are excellent for use in landscape art quilts too.
Nov 23, 2011 at 2:31 PM I joined a quilt guild last year and have just been introduced to batiks by some advanced quilters. I was blown away with some of the gorgeous combinations they used in traditional patterns.
Nov 23, 2011 at 1:31 PM I love batiks so much that I often forget there are any other kinds of fabrics! I think they look fabulous anytime and anyway.
Nov 23, 2011 at 12:34 PM That's hard to say...but I really love to see how batiks look in traditional patterns. As matter of fact, I'm making my Dear Jane quilt in batiks! Thanks for the chance!
Nov 23, 2011 at 11:33 AM The landscape quilts are pretty, but I prefer the traditional quilts. Thanks for the great giveaway!
Nov 23, 2011 at 10:37 AM You're not going to believe this, but, I've yet to make anything out of batiks. Just looking at the more traditional and the landscapes...I like the landscapes better. Guess it's time for me to change up a bit and create something with batik fabric! Thanks for the chance to win.
Nov 23, 2011 at 10:10 AM Hi Anita, I like the traditional quilts and would love to see more batiks, I also love the the landscape quilts.
Nov 23, 2011 at 9:24 AM Well, I think I am just a more traditional person; therefore, I like batiks in a traditional design as well. Thanks for the chance and have a nice Thanksgiving!
Nov 23, 2011 at 8:40 AM I don't know what it is about batiks... I love it and surprisingly I don't have enough of it! Thanks for the chance!!
