Sometimes here at CT, if someone from the outside were to witness a typical day at the office, they might question whether we are actually working, or just playing. We can't deny, it's pretty awesome! The making of this video was no exception. It all started when one of our amazing interns, CJ, conjured up the idea behind this year's Christmas video. This year, Crafts Americana Group participated in a corporate internship program with a local high school called De La Salle. The program allows for its students to get actual, on-site, on-the-job training a few days a week at local businessnes, and we get a few extra helping hands around the office. It's been so great getting to know them a little more and working with them these past few months. When CJ was asked to brainstorm some ideas for this year's video, he went straight to work brainstorming with our marketing director, Alisha, and together they came up with this gem.
Knit Picks was gracious enough to lend us their multimedia manager, Jenny K, who is just a joy to work with. Jenny filmed, edited, and directed the shoot and did such a wonderful job! She definitely made our day of filming very smooth and efficient.
We (Teri, Alisha, CJ, and myself) arrived at Teri's house one morning with a car full of Connecting Threads quilts and projects ready to be wrapped up as gifts.
It wasn't hard to set things up as Teri's house was already decorated so beautifully. There was a little Christmas in every corner with so much charm and whimsy!
We finished setting up and waited for our star actors, little Tyler and our very own Santa. While he might seem a bit grumpy and distressed in the video, Brent, our Network and Systems Manager, is the nicest "Santa" we could've asked for! Plus, he agreed to wear the suit!
I must say, the idea of doing this video as a silent film was great, especially considering we were working with Teri's son, Tyler, who is four years old (he's a little wiggly so the photo is a bit blurry).
It's a little difficult to get four-year-olds to say and do exactly what you want them to. Tyler, however, was so much fun to have around for the shoot. He's quite entertaining and made us laugh a lot. He even took time out of his busy filming schedule to play lightsabers with Santa!
It was a really fun project to be a part of and we hope you all enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed working on it! A very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all! :)
