This contest is officially closed!  Thank you to everyone who participated. You can find out who won by clicking here.

Even though I barely finished my gifts in time for the holidays I never stopped looking at new books and picking new projects for next year! We have two copies of Karla Alexander's NEW book Stack the Deck Revisited that we are going to give away*. The book has 11 projects using her fun stack-slice-shuffle-and-sew method. The patterns from her original book have been updated. I love this technique because it is so easy to cut, and so fun and quick to sew together!  I love seeing how the blocks turn out as you go, and I can't wait to get started making them. You could win a copy of this book by simply answering the following question by commenting below:

"How many sewn holiday projects did you complete this year?"

The deadline to enter is Wednesday, December 29, 2010 by (11:59 pm PST). I will draw  two random winners on Thursday morning.

*Rules! Only one entry per person. Must have a U.S. shipping address. No purchase necessary.

I didn't make any holiday projects this year...meant to make two, but neither got finished. Ooops. I'll do better in 2011!
  3. Wanda Says:
3 completed Halloween wall hangings for my 3 grandsons with patterns and material scattered all around for their Christmas wall hangings. Too many plans and not enough hours for working and quilting. But my good intentions are there.
  4. Michelle Says:
I didn't get any gifts finished. :-( My daughter got sick, then I got sick then my son, then my husband. But I love quilting books. Thanks for the opportunity for a free goodie.
  5. LeAnn R Says:
I made a pair of pillowcases. But I have a really good excuse for not finishing any other projects. We completed building our new house and I was painting, tiling floors, and putting in hardwood floors. Does that count, we moved in the week before Christmas.
  6. cindy Wurtz Says:
I made three Christmas pillow cases, finished putting binding on a quilt and my 13 year daughter made a simple but very cute blanket for my grandaughters doll. My daughter also worked on designing fabric for me to put into a quilt. This next year I plan on putting aside one day a month devoted to quilting. I love it.
    Thank you
  7. Sandy B Says:

I sadly had NO time to make anything for anyone yet this year. But the new year is only two days away... so there is hope for me yet!'
  9. Carol Wadkins Says:
I made placemat sets for 10 family and friends, some of them were only two placemats and the others were a set of four. I also made several table toppers and can be turned over and used during a different season. I think there were about 10-15 of them. No large or lap sized quilts, still working on them.............
If I do half as well next year, it will be a wonder!!
The book that you have mentioned looks very interesting and I would love to have it!!
Thanks to you all for being a wonderful site and a great group of ladies!! Happy New Year!!

  11. Dorothy I. Dishman Says:
Unless I have lost count, I believe 24 projects were completed. Now I am gathering my Fall & Winter fabrics into possible projects for 2011 with lots of ideas seen on web sites and in magazines. My summers are usually spent on Fall/Winter projects so you could say I have reversed my seasons....Ha!
I would love to receive one of your books for future use.
    Thanks so much.
  12. phyllis Says:
I made only 4 gifts this Christmas because of a lot of sewing in Oct. for our 5 great-grandkids who were part of our 50th wedding celebration; and also, a lot of sewing in Nov. for the Cancer Foundation for their fund-raiser. I only got 3 towels and a baby quilt finished. Maybe next year.
  13. Anita Says:
Not as many as I wanted to. I just made a small runner for an exchange gift with a quilt group and 4 paper pieced ornaments.
  14. Marlene Says:

  15. Audrey Brys Says:
I finally finished a queen size quilt that had sadly been waiting for the quilting of borders for over a year. Also, some table runners were finally completed. Yeah.

With a brand new grandbaby, I neglected to complete any projects for Christmas, other than a baby quilt and several small receiving blankets. My New Year's resolution is to finish at least five of the quilting projects already in the works. I would love to win the book - it sounds like fun waiting to start.
  19. Susan Ashley-LaFitte Says:
I finished 2 projects this year. Had plans to do more, but came down with shingles! Couldn't even sit at my machine. Looking forward to 2011 and doing something "new and different". This book could be just the thing to inspire me! Happy New Year to all.

I got several small projects finished, a total of 7. Hoping to do better this year by getting started earlier. I hope to do more sewing for ministry this year and just not stuff I do for the family. They always seem to grab everything up. But that's okay, I really enjoy making gifts for everyone.

  29. Terri Beck Says:
I gave away about 20 FSL ornaments. I tried to make quilt blocks for a blockswap but my machine broke down and was unable to finish them. Getting the ornaments done was a nightmare because the machine was messing up all the tme. It is now in the shop again. Hopefully it will be fixed this time. Has been in for the same problem several times and comes home doing the same thing. My daughter is actually trying to get it declared a lemon.
    Blessings
    Terri

The rest of the year I sewed quilts. The blocks in the Stack the Deck revised look fun and colorful. I would love to win this book!
  49. lisa Says:
I gave three quilts...one finished, one that needs binding, and one thats just a top (last minute decision to try and give it as a gift, I was shocked when the top was finished in time to wrap, I need to go buy backing and batting for it and the budget wouldnt let me do that right away.) and I made a tree skirt with scraps. I love it! (so the answer is three gifts one decration...if you can call those two "finished")
  50. Janice Says:
I made three gifts that I gave and one item for myself. I made a baby quilt that I sold for a gift. I also helped my 18 year old daughter with her very first quilting/sewing project that is for a friend.
