Enter to win a copy of Laura Wasilowski's new book Fanciful Stitches Colorful Quilts.

I have always been a "follow the pattern to the letter" type of quilter and have not dabbled much in the way of art quilts. I am also in love with embroidery. The time has come for me to break out of my mold and try new things. Laura's new book has such fun and whimsical projects that I am inspired, and I am going to take the plunge and try them. The projects look easy, and the results are truly pieces of art! I love the simple fusible appliqué technique she uses and all of the fun and colorful embroidery stitches. So many art quilt books have very vague instructions because you need to use your own creativity, but it makes it hard for a beginner know where to begin. Laura gives instructions and techniques that are so clear, I feel like this is a great way for me to start. I love to use batiks and they are perfect for her projects.

My favorite, and the one I am going to make is the Houseboat.

It makes me happy just looking at it!

I also love the beautiful embroidered garden on the Garden Cottage project.

We will have two lucky winners. One winner will win a copy of the book Fanciful Stitches Colorful Quilts from C&T Publishing and the other will win a 2 Batik stacks: A Sunset and a Waterways batik stack from the Batiks Paradise collection. For a chance to win, comment below and let us know what type of embroidered projects you like to make. Giveaway ends at midnight PST, on May 11. The winners will be selected randomly and announced a couple days later.

If you would like to purchase the book from our site, you can find it on our site here: Fanciful Stitches, Colorful Quilts.

RULES: No purchase necessary.  Must have a US mailing address.  One entry per person.  Must provide a valid email address so that we can contact you if you win.

Hi, I would love to win this book! I love to do a satin stitch for fun table toppers like Thanksgiving and Halloween and on a dresden plate quilt I did a small zigzag on one and then on the other I did a blanket stitch I believe. I really enjoyed it! I'm just now starting to do 20 jingle bell blocks for a swap and they will all be appliqued, looking forward to it! I would love to have a book to help me be more creative with appliqueing :o)

I love to make children's or babie's quilts the more colorful the better. I enjoy embroidering of all types. I am working on a family shield that my brother designed it is very colorful and it has a lot of special things that are incorporated into the shield. I would very much like to win either book as it would give me a lot of good ideas to try out.

I have recently begun to add beading to my quilts, and discovered that I find hand-work relaxing rather than tedious. Discovering this book makes me want to try some embroidery and applique, which will be additional new hand-work skills for me. The description of the book content sounds confidence-enspiring. I am captivated by the whimsical design of the cottage garden quilt, and it is the one I think I would start on first. Thanks for an opportunity to enter your drawing!
