Look at this darling little bottle-cap pincushion from Super-cute Pincusions. It is SO cute and very fun to make!  I am a lover of wools so this project is made of wool. I love to embellish and was attracted to the embroidery stitches that adorned the minute pincushion. It has quite a history too!

First of all, Deb was going to make this project however, she had made two previous projects and was very tight on time. Judy loves to make bottle-cap pincushions, but her focus is sewing them to look like chocolates, and they really do look like professionally made chocolates! They are awesome!!!
She shared a couple of “test” samples with Deb so she could refinish them into new designs with minimal work.  Long story short, I took the project over as I had not contributed a project as yet and Judy gave me a bottle cap.

Now, I’m not too particular about the process so, I gathered all the supplies needed, sat down, and began to work without a plan or design. It was ENORMOUS fun to watch the little thing turn into something quite pretty. I got so excited I brought out my beading supplies for further embellishment. As you can see, comparing it with the thread is a good indicator of the size!

Wow, it was so much fun, I had it done in an evening and was planning additional pincushions as gifts for Christmas.  They sew up very quickly! The book offers a number of stitch options. I think the pincushion is a perfect size for the little sewing kits one uses to just throw into an “on the run” project bag as they take up very little space. My bottle-cap pincushion has applique pins in it but will easily handle regular sized pins as well.

We’re getting down to serious gift-giving time and this project is ideal for any friend who loves to sew!
