I'm so excited to tell you about our newest product, Essential Pro! We interviewed long arm quilters about their favorite threads and used their feedback to develop our own. As usual, the price is unbelievable, as is the quality!

There are a couple of schools of thought on the topic of cotton vs poly. I was told many years ago NEVER use poly thread because it will wear through the cotton. Today when I google the same question I see very different answers. Today, anything goes, and it's a matter of personal preference.
Today's poly threads are not the same as the 1970's poly. Ours is much finer for one thing, has no sheen so it reflects like cotton, and if I try to break it with my hands, I can. I recall my highschool home ec class poly thread cutting my hands when I tried to break it.
Sep 29, 2010 at 2:58 PM Hi Pam,
I recommend you look at your Viking owners manual to see if it requires anything special. But normally, I'd use our Essential cotton thread for piecing and machine applique (for the blanket stitch), and the new EssentialPro for any machine quilting.
Sep 29, 2010 at 2:39 PM Which of your threads would I use in my new viking sapphire 835 machine? Is it the same as you use when using a long arm?
Sep 28, 2010 at 2:53 PM I have a question about your new thread. I have heard in the past that we should use cotton thread with cotton fabric and am a big fan of your essential thread. Is it acceptable to use poly thread on the quilting part?
Sep 24, 2010 at 9:45 AM Yeah, I am pretty yappy, aren't I, Karen?
Sep 23, 2010 at 7:23 AM Linda, congrats! You are our very first comment on our new blog!
