I was so excited when Jenni designed Neutral Love. Many of us here at CT have been waiting with bated breath for a neutral collection. We want to stock our stash! Really, you can never have enough neutral fabrics, especially for those who love the scrappy look.
Checkerboard and Stars is a work in neutrals. It offers a hint of wine that adds a bit of unexpected curiosity to the country look of the quilt. My favorite fabric in the collection is Paisley in the color wine. It is so warm and luscious… I am very fond of any paisley design and so happy it is included in this collection. I gave it ample presence in Checkerboard and Stars. It’s placed in the alternating solid block between the star blocks.

With a little bit more detail than usual, Checkerboard and Stars is designed for a more experienced piecer. Techniques used are the 4-in-one No Math Flying Geese, Stitch & Flip, and Strip Piecing. All wonderful techniques, the highlighted ones can be found on the CT website as needed for guidance if someone is new to piecing. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it!
