As many of you know, we announced our five finalists for the Fabric Design Contest a couple of weeks ago. Since the announcement, one of the designers has been disqualified from the competition as they failed to provide sufficent contact information. Given this, we made the decision to open the contest up to two additional participants. The first addition was the next runner up based on your votes. To mix things up and add an element of surprise, we decided to include a "Wild Card" finalist as well. We then needed to figure out how to decide on the Wild Card and we ultimately landed on the idea to draw the finalist's design name from a hat.
What happens now:
The original finalists must still have their completed artwork submitted to our team by October 7th. The two new finalists have been given an extended deadline of October 30th. Starting on October 7th, we will begin posting designer bios once a week here on Notions so that you can get an inside view of who these talented artists are and how they got started. The designer bios will also include a preview of their full collection, including any revisions they have made to their artwork and new prints added. The final designer bio will be posted the week of November 11th. Following that, our diverse panel of judges will hold a top-secret meeting where our winner will be selected. After formalities have been completed (informing the winner, contracts signed, etc.), we will announce our winner here on November 18th (assuming all goes smoothly).
Many of you may be wondering what the two new finalist designs look like. Well, see below!
Squawk! by Ingrid Figueras of Barcelona.
Embroidery by Jeanne McGee of Minneapolis, MN.
We are excited to have added these two prints to our already great line up. The pressure is on!
