For the love of solids

Having just finished designing a pattern compiled of all solids except one, I must share with you the advantages solids provide in a quilt.  I had one print to work with and pulled a variety of colors in solids from that print to create the quilt design.  It was great not having to match linier prints, accommodate image sizes and deal with funky colors within a single fabric.  Solids add a texture that is unique and the only visual tension is in the color itself.  Solids provide a resting place for the eye and break up what would seem to be an endless source of busy prints.  Solids also support prints that need to make a statement.  I encourage you to experiment with them; they are a great addition to your stash!

Did you know that Connecting Threads has recently started offering Quilter’s Candy solid prints in two different samplers?  Yep, we now have two beautiful color options...

Bright

and Soft

Each of the samplers contains 24 coordinating colors. The samplers are available in charms, strips, stacks or fat quarters and are a really affordable way to build your stash!  Happy quilting!

Some of you have asked to see the finished quilt!  Here's a picture. What do you think?

Thank you everyone! I thought this element curious.... that the final configuration of the quilt design mimiced the block. Believe me, I did not plan that; it just happened.
