Gifty Galore 2011: Buttons!

Buttons, Buttons, Whose got the BUTTONS!

Here is another great way for showing off your favorite buttons, ribbons, and beads.  And, if you can part with your buttons, it makes a wonderful gift. The pattern Button Bars Mini Quilt, from Kim Schaefer's Quilts from Textured Solids, was my choice for my Gifty Galore project. This mini quilt is framed by a color-pieced border embellished with buttons. It has simple directions, so I finished my project in one weekend. This was an excellent way to use Quilter's Candy Mirage scraps and my buttons. The hardest part I had was deciding what buttons to use.

Kim put her simple design quilt in a frame. I decided to forgo the frame, and bind my mini quilt.  I also embellished it with a scattering of beads and used chiffon ribbon as a hanger. Yes, this would make a great colorful gift for some one's sewing room, office or cubicle.  In my case, I will have to wean myself off my button addiction before I can gift it.

Hmm. I love these ideas. I may have to start collecting buttons, I usually only buy then when i need them. But maybe i need to start some collections, My sewing room has always been a small space but now i have some more room, would be great to expand what happens in there.
