This gifty galore project came about a bit backwards. It began when I fell in love with this fabric. I love Christmas as well as mid-century style illustration (e.g. Mary Blair). This fabric was the best of both worlds, so I bought it with no idea what to do with it. I did a google search with the name of the fabric to see if I could find anyone else's projects using it. Lo and behold, I found Gwenny Penny's Fussy-Cut Quilted Coasters. A nice and simple project that utilized the focal fabric perfectly. And as an added bonus, the pattern is free and she even walks you through step-by-step (always nice for a beginner!).
If you need a quick, easily customizable gift, this is your project. Any focal fabric could work for the center fussy-cut area. Even a simpler fabric that's been embroidered would be a nice and personal touch. I'm thinking another set is in order with our new Spring Terrace fabrics. The yellows and greys would look lovely in this pattern. Or if you're feeling in the holiday mood, the Quilter's Candy Novelty Print, Cookie Exchange would be adorable as well.
Do you have any fabrics in mind that would be perfect for this project?
