Working at Connecting Threads, you can imagine that I see a lot of quilt designs that are absolutely beautiful coming through the doors. Because there isn't enough time in the world (or money) to make them all, you are forced to pick a few styles that you identify most with. When it came to the kits in Riviera II, just about every project I saw generated a "Oh-my-gosh-I-need-that-quilt" response. That is, until I saw the Gaggle of Geese quilt come in. I am in love.
Granted, I have to admit that I'm a bit of a pinwheels gal. I also really appreciate quilts that give a little bit of visual rest with the use of white space. For me, this quilt was a no-brainer. I had to have it.
The designers - Heather Andrus and Megan Jiminez - hit the nail on the head with this pattern. It is well balanced, offers stunning visual interest, is challenging enough to keep an experienced quilter interested, and an intermediate quilter focused, and is versatile enough to be used with any collection.
In the Northwest, sunny days are few and far between -- especially during the fall/winter/spring months. Now that we are well into May, the sun has decided to make more of an appearance lately, but even when it's not out, this quilt brightens up your home.
Do you have a favorite Riviera II kit that gave you the "Oh-my-gosh-I-need-that-quilt" reaction? We'd love to know what you're craving most!
