Don’t you love it when you have a productive weekend of projects? I had such a weekend last weekend.
I finished a painted resin piece for a gift (see our sister site Artist's Club),
a quilted postcard for quilt group exchange,

a table runner for a gift (pattern available with Classic Influences Kit in our Rose Manor),
and started a little embroidered something for me from Mari's Holiday Time Embroidered Mini Quilt.

So what was the greatest accomplishment this past weekend? The Table Runner is the answer. As a newer quilter, my greatest wish is to become better at free-motion quilting, especially stippling. The table runner was my first attempt on my new Janome. I had been using a Bernina that is older than I am; and as much as I love my Bernina, it has no speed control and apparently I have a heavy foot. So with much anticipation, I tried my hand at stippling first on some scrap and then on the real thing (my sister’s Christmas gift). And what do you know… I didn’t hate it. I still have a long way to go before I love my stippling, but not hating it is a huge step for me. So, if you are new to doing your own free-motion quilting like me, make sure to celebrate the small steps.
