Last year at this time I was preparing to go on vacation to Mexico, leaving the cold Northwest for the sunny tropics of Playa del Carmen. I had never been to Mexico but grew up in California and had always been exposed to the vibrant culture. It instantly got my creative juices flowing; bright, fun images floating in my mind. I absolutely love folk art and have always been drawn to Mexican folk art and embroidery in particular. I wanted ¡Fiesta! to be a fun, bright, vivid, cheery group that had folk art elements and that just made one smile when they saw it.
I knew I wanted a colorful floral that emulated the feel of folk embroidery. Floral Fiesta came out exactly as I wanted it to!
I love how the colors pop on the Black ground, but I also love the sunny afternoon feel of the Marigold ground.
Burst of Confetti is just that, imagine busting into a piñata and the explosion of candy and confetti that spill out. Piñata Stripe reminds me of botanical streamers, vines with flowers and berries as decorations dangling from above. Stitched Floral whether in multi or in the tonal options acts as great coordinates to this collection. And to have this print as a backing is an extra bonus!
This collection is also really exciting because it’s the first time we’ve printed on canvas! I think this was such a great group to launch canvas for the very first time, and the kits using it are so great!
As for the kits, Brioche & Baguette by Modern Quilt Relish is one of my favorites, it is a nice clean design and really showcases the fabrics!
Daisy Dreams Quilt & Sham is such a great kit for any girls room.
Eliza’s Reversible Techno Color Tote by Susan Terpin used both quilters cotton and canvas, and it’s reversible! So much goodness!!
I also really love the Crazy Canvas Floor Cushion by Susan Terpin, it’s such a clever shape and design and super comfortable!
I also have another embroidery pattern in this collection…look for my blog on that in a few days.
Dreaming of a fiesta as I type! I hope you enjoy this fun group too!!
