As I was searching through projects I wanted to do in Fabric by Fabric - One Yard Wonders, I stopped almost immediately on the Cap Sleeve Bolero— it's just too cute! The top was listed under the "Lightweight Cottons" chapter, and I knew instantly it would be a great project to do with our new line of cotton lawn in the Matsuri collection. Since the warm weather is slowly but surely coming upon us, having a cute new top to add to my wardrobe is a major plus! I chose Cherry Blossoms in Ocean Mist because I wanted to use a larger scale print; and I just love this print and the color. Also, I decided to use Sashiko Stars in Deep Aqua to make the covered buttons, which accent the print really well and give a cute touch.

I'm pretty petite so I cut the small from the pattern. But I will admit it's pretty small and particularly short. Now I only need to make myself a high waisted skirt so I can flaunt this little top. I'm really not one to show my belly (despite my previous post about the halter top...that's totally different, to me that's an elongated bikini top…ha ha!) Anyhow, this was pretty simple to sew up and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. There's something really special about wearing clothes that you've made for yourself!

Apr 30, 2012 at 1:01 PM This book looks fantastic. I am a scrap quilter at heart. I have quite a collection of scraps that would go into these patterns very nicely. Love all the designs.

Apr 27, 2012 at 4:10 PM Hi Jenna, Your Bolero is very pretty. The colour and style suit. I personally don't think you need to lengthen the top at all. It is very different from anything you would see in a store.

Apr 27, 2012 at 8:06 AM Jenni, you made perfect use out of the lawn fabric. It is so cute on you. Although you think you need a high waisted skirt, it looks great without. Enjoy your new bolero!!!
