The book Scrap-Basket Sensations is one of our favorite new books here in the office, and judging by the book sales it's one of your favorites too! When planning out our kits for the Birchtree Lane collection, this book was a natural choice. Its patterns are so versatile, since Kim explains how to make the projects from yardage, not just 2-1/2" strips (as the cover suggests).

I chose to sew up the Picnic Quilt (cover) using all the Birchtree Lane fabrics. I just love how it turned out.

Being fairly new to quilting, this was the most piecing I had ever done for a quilt. So many little squares and rectangles-whew! After having to mark so many diagonals across the squares, I plan to purchase this new Fast 2 Sew seam guide for my next piecing-intensive quilt. It would have made it go so much faster. This quilt also had quite a few points to match up, and I have to admit I wasn't 100% successful in that regard. The Birchtree Lane fabrics are busy enough though that you don't really notice the points, which was a huge bonus for me! Kim's directions and diagrams are crystal-clear and the results are lovely.
