As the Art Director for our catalog photo shoots, it’s my job to research and book locations. We have a very tight budget which makes for a lot of creativity and craftiness. I choose locations based on the overall feel and style of a home and try my best to have it connect with the collections I will be photographing. I've done shoots at coworkers homes, Bed & Breakfasts, through Airbnb, friends of friends homes. But there can never be enough options, that is why I’m reaching out to all of you. If you are in the Portland/Vancouver area and you feel like your home would be a great location for our photo shoot, I’d love to hear from you!
I’ve attached pictures of inspirational homes. It’s very important to have good space, great lighting and a nice aesthetic. My number one preference is a home that is neutral overall, wall colors, wood floors, furnishings that aren’t too theme specific but neutral in color and feel so they can work with many styles of collections. I like homes with character and charm, antiques are a plus! Older style homes are great for that reason because they usually have interesting elements like built ins or wainscoted walls, great moldings, neat fixtures, etc. Modern homes are also good, again the key point is that there is character and good design elements.
Rooms of particular interests are living room, dining room, kitchen, bedrooms. Roughly 15x15 are good sizes to work with, and bigger is even better.
We would need to book the whole day, and what that generally means is from 9am until 4pm. There would be up to three people, and sometimes a few more if we have models with us.
We pay $100 per location shoot. We would also need you to fill out a W9 and other paperwork that basically state you grant us the right to shoot in your home. And all pertinent info so we can pay you. I can go into more specifics for anyone that is interested. And for those interested, I would need a way to contact you. If you want to see your home in a Connecting Threads catalog, leave a comment below just letting us know approximately where you're located. When you're using the form, make sure to provide your current email address (it won't be shown to anyone but us) so that we have a way to get in touch with you. I will also need to see images of your house so I know what I’m working with, but that can happen once we’re in contact.
Thank you so much and greatly appreciate the help!
