I was thrilled to be invited to join C&T's Quilts Made Modern blog tour because this is a very popular book around the office and with our customers.I just love it!
It's no big mystery why the book is so popular. Weeks' and Bill's approach to book writing is that it is not just a collection of patterns; they see it as a resource for teaching and engendering a lasting love of quilting. This is the added value they bring to their books. You can tell that they teach quilting workshops and classes because their enthusiasm for teaching pours out of every page. I love that they illustrate their lessons on the various aspects of quilt making with many examples from their own experiences and those of their students. These personal stories make the lessons memorable and the book very enjoyable to read.
Of course the patterns are wonderful too, and I love that they show them with many size options and in different color schemes. My personal favorite is "Transparency". I love the illusion of the overlapping fabrics!
