Reversible Sundress in Matsuri Lawn

Let me just state up front I don’t sew clothes; haven’t for a long time.  BUT I have a new granddaughter, our first, and that has changed my outlook on many things.  So when I saw SewBaby’s Reversible Sundress & Bloomer Pattern I just had to give it a shot.  I chose Spring Celebration (#4514)

and Sashiko Stars-Tomato (#4531)

from our Matsuri Lawn collection.  I’d never used Lawn fabrics before and I was very pleased with the result. It’s lightweight making it perfect for a summer outfit.  The pattern sizes range from 6 mo to 4T (I decided to make the 18 mo size so she can wear it next year) and gives two options for fastening the shoulder straps, buttons or snaps.  I chose snaps so the dress would truly be reversible.

My quick success with this project has left me ready to try my hand at more.  Our Matsuri Collection is 40% off this week (through 9/11/2012) so it is the perfect time to give it a try.

And, in true Grandma style, I have to sneak a picture in.  Won't she look adorable in this outfit next summer?

I started sewing again after my granddaughter was born 6 years ago. She is too big for this, but a friend of mine has a baby girl turning 1 soon and I will make it for her birthday! So sweet!
