Today's post is to celebrate the color GREEN and to talk about Emily Cier's latest book, Scrap Republic. It's also about some pretty awesome prizes--we're going to have five lucky winners this time, so read on!

Do I love the color green? Oh, yes, I do! In fact, it's my favorite color. (Well, technically teal is my favorite color, so that counts for blue and green, right?) In fact, all of us here at Connecting Threads must love green because I just noticed that our Green fabric category is the largest color category BY FAR with 125 green fabrics. So yeah, we're green lovers over here. To me, green is just so fresh and lively. It makes me think of all the lush trees we have here in the Pacific Northwest. Plus, some of my favorite foods are green...salad...avocados...pickles...green olives...ok, now I'm getting hungry! I made this fun mosaic to celebrate the beauty of green with photos from Flickr.

1. Green Parrot, 2. green_aftermath, 3. tuesday :: green, 4. green glass, 5. Avocado Horiz, 6. sprout, 7. green vintage wallpaper, 8. Green [Explored - thank you!!], 9. Green, 10. green machine, 11. Green nature, 12. Green buttons, 13. green seats, 14. Green, 15. Green apple, 16. Green stripe

Now, about the book. Scrap Republic is very rainbow-themed, so even if you're not a green lover, persay, you'll love this book if you love color. Emily shows you how to make the quilts scrappy and with yardage, so you can go wild, or be restrained with your palette. This is my favorite quilt from the book:

Whirl in Scraps from Scrap Republic

Rainbow, scrappy and curves--gorgeous!

Now on to the prizes! Win one of these babies, and we'll all be green with envy (ok, I couldn't resist!):

A copy of Scrap Republic from C&T Publishing (printed version for residents, PDF for international)

A Scrap Republic Eco Tote from C&T Publishing (US residents only)

A Bag o’ Scraps from Robert Kaufman (US and International)

A Mrs. Roy G. Biv Pattern from Carolina Patchworks (the pattern that inspired the book!) (US and International)

And we've chipped in a ROY G BIV (stands for Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet) Essential Cotton Thread assortment (thread colors are Red, Pumpkin, Butter, Lime, Cerulean, Midnight, and Red Violet) (US residents only)

How awesome are those prizes! To enter, simply leave a comment telling us what your favorite shade of green is to use in quilting by 12AM PST on Tuesday, October 11. We'll announce the five random winners on Thursday, October 13. Good luck!

Rules: No purchase necessary.  One entry per person.  Must provide a valid email address so that we can contact you if you win.  One comment per person, please.

The color green I've been using the most is a deep green. Sorry, I'm not sure of the name. I also like using a wide variety of greens for my leaves when doing applique. This tour is great asking us think of each color, what it means to us, our favorites and how we use them.

Thank you and the Sponsors for the great giveaway and a chance to win.

My foyer and kitchen are a color called "Shagreen". My friend that helped me pick it calls it "my color" since it starts with the first 3 letters of my name.

It's apple green but with more gray instead of yellow. So pretty! So I'm always looking for fabric with those tones!

  40. MollyP Says:
Green is my absolute favorite color. I have more cuts of green fabric than I am willing to claim. I use a lot of bright, clear greens like grass and kelly. I just finished up a quilt with Kona "cactus" green and am working on another with Kona "fern." FYI, Kona cactus will sear your corneas if you stare at it too long. If I ever decide to start a solids/tonal quilt, it will be green and I will have no problem using only stash. Thanks!
  41. Cindy Says:
Grass green, and the color green that you only see in newly "popped-out" leaves...such vibrant colors! Those colors herald Spring up here in the Great White North! :D
  42. Linda J Says:
Emerald green - so rich. Love the prizes.
  43. Julie L Says:
It is hard to pick a particular green - when I'm bummed out about too much winter I love seafoam - anything to make me think of the ocean. Of course I love a good deep rich, palm leaf green as well. It really makes orange pop in an unexpected way. Then there are teal greens which are just complete oohs and ahs! I love most greens, I'm even starting to love 70s shades of green in olives and murky tones too.
  44. Anna Marie Houck Says:
I love greens! My favorite would probably be Christmas green
