Today's post is to celebrate the color GREEN and to talk about Emily Cier's latest book, Scrap Republic. It's also about some pretty awesome prizes--we're going to have five lucky winners this time, so read on!

Do I love the color green? Oh, yes, I do! In fact, it's my favorite color. (Well, technically teal is my favorite color, so that counts for blue and green, right?) In fact, all of us here at Connecting Threads must love green because I just noticed that our Green fabric category is the largest color category BY FAR with 125 green fabrics. So yeah, we're green lovers over here. To me, green is just so fresh and lively. It makes me think of all the lush trees we have here in the Pacific Northwest. Plus, some of my favorite foods are green...salad...avocados...pickles...green olives...ok, now I'm getting hungry! I made this fun mosaic to celebrate the beauty of green with photos from Flickr.

1. Green Parrot, 2. green_aftermath, 3. tuesday :: green, 4. green glass, 5. Avocado Horiz, 6. sprout, 7. green vintage wallpaper, 8. Green [Explored - thank you!!], 9. Green, 10. green machine, 11. Green nature, 12. Green buttons, 13. green seats, 14. Green, 15. Green apple, 16. Green stripe
Now, about the book. Scrap Republic is very rainbow-themed, so even if you're not a green lover, persay, you'll love this book if you love color. Emily shows you how to make the quilts scrappy and with yardage, so you can go wild, or be restrained with your palette. This is my favorite quilt from the book:
Rainbow, scrappy and curves--gorgeous!
Now on to the prizes! Win one of these babies, and we'll all be green with envy (ok, I couldn't resist!):
A copy of Scrap Republic from C&T Publishing (printed version for residents, PDF for international)
A Scrap Republic Eco Tote from C&T Publishing (US residents only)
A Bag o’ Scraps from Robert Kaufman (US and International)
A Mrs. Roy G. Biv Pattern from Carolina Patchworks (the pattern that inspired the book!) (US and International)
And we've chipped in a ROY G BIV (stands for Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet) Essential Cotton Thread assortment (thread colors are Red, Pumpkin, Butter, Lime, Cerulean, Midnight, and Red Violet) (US residents only)
How awesome are those prizes! To enter, simply leave a comment telling us what your favorite shade of green is to use in quilting by 12AM PST on Tuesday, October 11. We'll announce the five random winners on Thursday, October 13. Good luck!
Rules: No purchase necessary. One entry per person. Must provide a valid email address so that we can contact you if you win. One comment per person, please.
And be sure to visit all the stops on the tour because you get a chance at these prizes at every stop!

Oct 12, 2011 at 9:22 AM I love to use Olive Green in quilts. Thanks for the opportunity to win.
Oct 12, 2011 at 8:53 AM My favorite color green for quilting is lime green. I did a quilt for my grandson with lime greens, black and white. It is my favorite quilt to date that I have made. Thanks for the chance to win these prizes!
Oct 12, 2011 at 8:09 AM Green is my all-time favorite color. Apple green is the best of the grees, though!
Oct 12, 2011 at 5:44 AM I would say green apple or lime green...especially with some bright pinks and white. Lisa in Texas
Oct 12, 2011 at 4:38 AM So hard to choose one green, I use so much of it in my quilting, but one of my favorites was a fabric that was bright green with dark green dots on it that I used as a binding on a halloween quilt.
Oct 11, 2011 at 10:17 PM I would have to say my favorite green is a celery color like what I have on my craft room walls. I personally think its kind of a versatile color, seasonally speaking. Thanks for sharing your love of green!
Oct 11, 2011 at 7:36 PM I like the jungle green from the Crayola crayon box. It's amazing that I remember this stuff.

Oct 11, 2011 at 2:11 PM I love Blue. Any blue. Light, dark, medium blue, any shade makes me happy. Could it be my blue eyes? Maybe?
Blue quilts always make me look closer at the design. If the design is another color I try to imagine it in blues.
Oct 11, 2011 at 10:09 AM I love sage green with other earth tones (like browns). For more fun, I like a bright kelly green.
Oct 11, 2011 at 8:29 AM Green apple is a favourite of mine. Sage green comes as a close second.
Oct 11, 2011 at 7:32 AM Kelly green!

Oct 10, 2011 at 11:54 PM I love bright Christmas green the best!
Oct 10, 2011 at 10:52 PM The color green I've been using the most is a deep green. Sorry, I'm not sure of the name. I also like using a wide variety of greens for my leaves when doing applique. This tour is great asking us think of each color, what it means to us, our favorites and how we use them.
Thank you and the Sponsors for the great giveaway and a chance to win.

Oct 10, 2011 at 7:07 PM My son's and my best friend's favourite colour is green and I work with it all the time! I love picking greens for them (they love all shades!) My particular favourite is lime green, especially when I can mix it up with some pinks and other fun colours! I am looking forward to the info on colour in this book! (I am also happy that even though I live in Canada, my mailing address is in the USA! Gotta love border towns!) Thanks for hosting!
Oct 10, 2011 at 6:57 PM I love deep deep shadowy mossy green, and seventies rich avocado.. Luscious!

Oct 10, 2011 at 6:28 PM My foyer and kitchen are a color called "Shagreen". My friend that helped me pick it calls it "my color" since it starts with the first 3 letters of my name.
It's apple green but with more gray instead of yellow. So pretty! So I'm always looking for fabric with those tones!
Oct 10, 2011 at 5:52 PM Apple green is my favorite---so cheerful! Would love the opportunity to be one of the lucky winners.
Oct 10, 2011 at 5:31 PM I like a dark jewel-toned green!

Oct 10, 2011 at 3:49 PM I have been very into natural greens, like fern and olive, soft and complimentary with a pop of any other color
thanks for the chance!
Oct 10, 2011 at 3:42 PM thanks for your post - my favourite green is probably a kind of lime green - crisp and clean - yum.
Oct 10, 2011 at 3:31 PM My favorite green is spring green. You know that fresh green of new grass in the spring. I grew up and still live in the midwest and love the green of newly sprouted fields against the black of the soil they are planted in.
Oct 10, 2011 at 2:31 PM I love using a variegated green thread! And for fabric i love using anything thats kind of "Limey" Thanks for the chance!
Oct 10, 2011 at 2:30 PM Teal -- light and dark
Oct 10, 2011 at 2:24 PM Green is my absolute favorite color. I have more cuts of green fabric than I am willing to claim. I use a lot of bright, clear greens like grass and kelly. I just finished up a quilt with Kona "cactus" green and am working on another with Kona "fern." FYI, Kona cactus will sear your corneas if you stare at it too long. If I ever decide to start a solids/tonal quilt, it will be green and I will have no problem using only stash. Thanks!
Oct 10, 2011 at 1:12 PM Grass green, and the color green that you only see in newly "popped-out" leaves...such vibrant colors! Those colors herald Spring up here in the Great White North! :D
Oct 10, 2011 at 12:46 PM Emerald green - so rich. Love the prizes.
Oct 10, 2011 at 12:00 PM It is hard to pick a particular green - when I'm bummed out about too much winter I love seafoam - anything to make me think of the ocean. Of course I love a good deep rich, palm leaf green as well. It really makes orange pop in an unexpected way. Then there are teal greens which are just complete oohs and ahs! I love most greens, I'm even starting to love 70s shades of green in olives and murky tones too.
Oct 10, 2011 at 11:35 AM I love greens! My favorite would probably be Christmas green
Oct 10, 2011 at 11:30 AM I LOVE lime green. So bright and fresh!
Oct 10, 2011 at 11:20 AM Grass green is my current favorite.
Oct 10, 2011 at 11:17 AM Love, love, love, olive green in all shades light to dark. This color goes with almost every color depending on the shade, light or darker.
I buy more of this color than any other.
Oct 10, 2011 at 11:16 AM Green is beautiful in quilts! Love grass green
Oct 10, 2011 at 11:08 AM Forest green is my favorite green color. I like it with burgundy and beige. Thanks for the chance at these great prizes!
Oct 10, 2011 at 11:06 AM My favorite green is teal - which as you said is a blue green. My second favorite is grass green.
