I’ve become a big fan of Kristin’s patterns.  And I love our soft flannels.  So, when the opportunity came to sew up her Snips & Snails quilt in our new Wild Ones flannels I made sure I was first in line to volunteer! 

The pattern sews up quickly thanks to Kristin’s clear instructions and the row by row construction.  The pinwheels can be a bit tricky in flannel—it tends to stretch easily—but use care when pressing and you will have success.  And how adorable are those snails, marching across the quilt with their cheeky grins?  They are very easy to make using fusible appliqué.  Once ironed in place, I used my machine to blanket stitch around them.  Their faces, antennae, and shell accents were done with embroidery floss by hand before quilting.   Our family recently found out that we will be greeting our first grandchild this June and while we don’t know yet if it’s a boy or girl I’m going to keep this quilt handy…I have a 50/50 chance of it being the perfect gift.
