The inspiration for the Starlight Table Topper came from a block I like a lot, A Girl’s Favorite (in the corners and center). I thought it complemented the Shimmering Frost collection with its wintry, holiday feel. The combination of the block’s design and the placement of color values gives the block a feel of transparency. I chose another block, Sky Rocket, to tie the blocks together and add some movement. This more advanced block may be a piecing challenge. I am pleased with the secondary pattern formed by the touching of the Sky Rocket points!
I love the Shimmering Frost collection’s white, black, green and blue color scheme and choice of color values from light to medium to dark.
The fabrics chosen for this table topper are from the Shimmering Frost collection:

I hope you enjoy the Starlight Table Topper! It will be worth the effort when you see how lovely it looks on your table. To help with accuracy, be sure to check your ¼” seam allowance before you start; use a scant 1/4” if needed. The blocks may lay flatter with seams pressed open. The table topper is only 32” square with 4-5 of each block. You can do it!

Sep 28, 2012 at 6:09 AM I love seeing more black fabric with movement. The black fabric also makes the shades of green pop!
