Thanks to the thousands of you who voted in our Fabric Design Contest, the five finalists have been chosen! They are:

Jessica Majers of San Francisco, CA and her design Barnum and Johnny the Jackelope Brothers:

Lee Heinrich of Milwaukee, WI and her design Flourish:

Alexandra Coyle of Baltimore, MD and her design Wildblooms:

Leslie Walton of Lancaster, PA and her design Happiness:

and Virginia Odien of Riverside, CA and her design Laundry Day:

Congratulations, ladies! And a big thank you to all of the talented people who entered our contest. We were amazed by the number of wonderful entries, and it was a very tough competition. Now our finalists have a month to submit secondary designs to our Connecting Threads panel of judges, and then we have the hard choice of choosing the grand prize winner. Which design would you choose?

    Happiness is my choice too!
  2. Anne Brown Says:
    I love happiness!!
  3. Rachel Says:
I second the comment above. Virginia's design 'Laundry Day' was inspired by her previous 'leprechaun laundry day' which disputes the accusations of her nicking any of HR's ideas. That's a tainted comment to put on a contest page anyway, especially when it's false. It's a great design anyway, and I hope she does very well!
  4. Vickie Says:
Amanda (#45), Dawn (#47) is correct. Virginia had a similar laundry design that won a Spoonflower contest on March 16, 2011 the design is here: http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/503290

This was long before Heather Ross came out with her design. It would be so unfair, and such a shame, if Virginia didn't win because people thought she had copied Heather Ross. I also think the Virginia's design is better balanced, and has a nicer flow across the fabric, than Heather's.

I love the Laundry Day design, I think it is so original and fun. I really hope it wins!
  5. Jane Freeman Says:
    Happiness!!!
  6. Jeneace Thomas Says:

WILDBLOOMS!!! Everything is beautiful--Congrats to the finalists:)!!
  9. Sue D Says:
All great designs -- really looking forward to seeing the other prints in these collections. My favorites are Flourish and Happiness.
  10. Indianna Says:
I love Flourish - the others are cute as one of projects - but I think Flourish is more "useable" as a fabric line for lots and lots of quilts, bags stuffies etc
  11. Monika Kinner-Whalen Says:
I love Laundry Day - wow, it's so clean and pretty.
  12. Terri Hume Says:
I LIKE FLOURISH THE BEST BUT THE LAUNDRY DAY IS VERY CUTE TOO.
  13. Rosanna Says:
I just adore Laundry Days, so creative and unique. I have not seen anything on the market like it and because so different I think it would be a terrific seller. I think in different color waves it would have so many applications for Baby, Teens and adult quilts. I just saw the entire collection and it Rocks!
  14. Virginia Says:
Laundry Day or Flourish, but I think I'm drawn to Laundry Day the most :)
  15. Mary White Says:
Happiness is my first choice, closely followed by Flourish.
  16. Dana Says:
LAUNDRY DAT!! Is the clear deisgn! Love the others, but this has 'grab appeal!" I would purchase this w/out an project in mind!!
  17. Elizabeth Says:
    I would definitely pick Flourish!
  18. Janet Says:
I just saw the rest of the prints Lee designed (on her blog) to go with her Flourish print, and I have to say, you'd be crazy not to pick her!! I love that Flourish print, and the supporting designs she came up with are just stunning, I would buy every single one of them!
  19. Becky Says:
I like all of them, but the only one I would actually use is probably Flourish - it's the most "me", style-wise, and I think a pretty versatile print and colorway, too.
  20. Luci Says:
Wow, some great entries! My favorite is Flourish, by a mile :) Congratulations everyone!
  21. Toni Says:
I would absolutely pick Flourish! Such a fun use of color, and I could see myself using it in a bunch of different ways, as opposed to a novelty print!
  22. Renny Says:
Personally, 'Laundry Day' is much more appealing to my personal aesthetic, so although there's another version out on the market, I'm really hoping this one gets printed, as I'd certainly buy this first! Well done!
  23. Dawn Says:
    Laundry day for me.
By the way I am fairly sure that the Laundry designer had a similar design with leprchauns a long time ago, before the Heather Ross fabric
  24. Sharon Says:
Laundry day is fabulous! New and fresh and wonderfully smiley :D
  25. Amanda Says:
Laundry Day reminds me too much of a Heather Ross print in her new FFA3 collection, though it is pretty. Flourish is the one I love the best, but I like the Barnum and Johnny print, too.
  26. Tonya Says:
Congrats everyone. I would totally pick Flourish - it's the only one that feels modern and fresh out of the bunch, though the others are lovely in their own ways.
  27. Mary Markowski Says:
Congratulations, ladies. There were some beautiful entries. Hope connecting threads makes some of them. I know I will be buying. I am totally addicted to connecting threads fabric.

Hello! Jackelope Bros is not only cute as hell, but it's hilarious! Jackelopes! Ha! I would make tote bags, quilts, baby blankets....it excites me to think of the possibilities...
  37. Ruth Ann Nielson Says:
I love Barnum and Johnny the Jackelope Brothers: It's something I have never seen before and it feels very unique and fun. I would love to see it in all different colors and could see many ways to use it. What a fun design!
  38. Shannon Says:
Though I voted for 4/5 of these entries (not the animal one) I would like to see Happiness in a fabric line....in neutral and blue colourways....in addition to this one shown...I fine it peaceful and calm....and happy!
  39. Marnie Says:
I love 2 designs Happiness and Laundry Day
  40. Karen Lange Says:
I love both Happiness and Laundry Day. Also, Flourish is a favorite. I'd be so happy if you made these into fabrics!
  41. Kathy Biggs Says:
I am torn between Happiness and Laundry Day for first choice; I just love both of them. But, I really like Wildblooms because of it's colors and it could be fussy cut for several different looks. And,Flourish reminds me of a Retro 60's design...yes it brings back memories. lol And my GK's would love the Jackelope Brothers. It's a shame there can only be one winner! Honestly, I don't think I could choose just one until seeing the secondary designs.
  42. Donna Sykes Says:
I love Leslie Walton's "Happiness" design. Good Luck Leslie!
  43. patricia Says:
    Laundry day.
  44. Mona LIsa Smiley Says:
I vote for Leslie Walton of Lancaster, PA and her design Happiness:

We need all the happiness we can get these days. I feel happy just looking at the design.............
  45. Victoria Says:
"Laundry Day", by Virginia Odien, is definitely my favorite, fresh and different. I can imagine so many uses for it.

There are so many flowered fabrics already available; and I can't imagine how the jackalopes got so many votes, with all the wonderful entries I saw when I voted; I would have thought the audience for something so narrowly themed was pretty small.
  46. Mona Says:
Hands down Laundry Day! It's versatile, stylish and totally unique!
  47. Cean Says:
Laundry Day! It's unique and very smart.
  48. Nina Says:
Laundry Day is amazing! I won't be able to find a design like that at Joanns.
  49. Kristen Says:
Laundry Day is wonderful! I love this fun and unique design!
  50. Francine Says:
Laundry Day! It's fresh and fun :)
