I just wanted to share one of my projects I'm making this year for the holidays for friends and family! If you are looking for quick patterns to make this year, then Simply Christmas by Sherri K. Falls is just for you because she combines piecing, applique, and embroidery to embellish cute, holiday-inspired gifts like a mini-quilt, embroidered tea towels, and a cute cup cozy. For this particular gift project, I chose Trim the Towel. I wanted to create thicker stitches, so I used six strands of a red DMC floss. I also used Sticky Fabri-Solvy to make the tea towel temporarily a little thicker and stronger.

All I had to do was simply trace the design onto the Sticky Fabri-Solvy, then stick it on where I wanted it to be on the tea towel. When I was finished, all I had to do was soak it in cold water and it dissolved. Just make sure to test your red floss by soaking it with a scrap white piece of fabric in cold water to make sure it doesn't run! 

 

See the final result! The rick-rack really adds that finishing touch.

I am really hooked on the  Sticky Fabri-Solvy, I love how sturdy my tea towel felt while embroidering it, and best of all, it didn't even 'gunk' up my needle. If you are in need of nice embroidery needles, I recommend John James' Embroidery Needles.
