Vancouver, WA. When Connecting Threads first began building our own fabric collections in 2007, MaryJo Tuttle was the first guest designer that sprung to mind for Teri Stillwell, Connecting Threads’ Fabric Director. MaryJo, a renowned decorative painter, often includes quilting imagery like tiny quilts and patches in her designs and has actually been quilting longer than she has been painting! Teri knew instinctively that MaryJo’s work would appeal to Connecting Threads’ customers. "I'm really excited about the new Snow Days group by MaryJo Tuttle,” says Teri, “ It's got fun, bright colors that can be used to decorate for winter or Christmas. There are endless possibilities for projects with this group because the prints are really easy to use. And you can never go wrong with snowmen! "
Although Snow Days was one of Teri’s first projects, it has taken almost 2 years for the collection to come to fruition. Getting the crisp definition and range of colors to translate MaryJo’s paintings to fabric has been an ongoing process of trial and error. Seven different colors are used in the final rendition of Snow Days to recreate the range of colors and depth of MaryJo’s paintings. You can see scans of MaryJo’s original hand painted work and images of the resulting fabric collection attached to this release. The adorable snowmen, brightly colored hats and mittens, and whimsical trees, snowballs, and snowflakes were all inspired by paintings from MaryJo’s book, Tuttles Touches, Vol. 4.
